Cardiff City midfielder Stephen McPhail could be back from a bruised pancreas, but doubts remain over five players.

Chris Burke and Quincy Owusu-Abeyie took knocks against Southampton, a defeat missed by Jay Bothroyd, Michael Chopra and Kevin McNaughton.

Barnsley will be without winger Martin Devaney for the match as his wife gave birth to a boy on Monday, but they have no new injury or suspension worries.

Winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce and defender Darren Moore look set for bench duty.

Barnsley manager Simon Davey told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"The performance on Saturday it will be hard to leave someone out of that side.

"I couldn't look them in the face and I think you would lose respect as a manager to do that."
